isitsafe.tv logo — safe movie ratings

About isitsafe.tv

isitsafe.tv exists for one reason: so you never have to fast-forward through an awkward scene while watching a movie or TV show with family again.

Every other rating system mixes violence, language, drugs and sexual content into one score. We don't. We only look at one thing — is there visual sex or nudity on screen? Titles with no visual sex or nudity are SAFE. Titles with clear visual nudity or sex scenes are UNSAFE. Titles with only brief, implied, or off-screen sexual content are SLIGHTLY SAFE.

Verdicts come from our team watching the titles, reading reviews and viewer comments, and from user reports. If we miss something or get a rating wrong, use the Report an Error button on any movie or TV show page — we'll fix it the same day.

Movie posters and metadata are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Our Safety Parameters

We measure one thing and one thing only: visual nudity and sex scenes. Every TV show and movie is rated Safe, Slightly Safe, or Unsafe.

SAFE
  • Zero visual nudity or sex scenes throughout the movie or episode
  • Verbal references, dialogue, or jokes are considered safe
  • Violence and profanity do not affect the safety rating
SLIGHTLY SAFE
  • ~Only brief flashes of nudity (a second or two) or partial / distant exposure
  • ~Sex is implied — covered, under sheets, fades to black, no body parts shown
  • ~No extended, graphic, or repeated sexual content
UNSAFE
  • Clear visual nudity (breasts, genitals, full buttocks shown plainly)
  • On-screen sex scenes with thrusting, undressing, or extended intimacy
  • Multiple or graphic sexual scenes anywhere in the movie or episode
